    Description

Gulliver's Travels Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background (Max Fleischer, 1939). "Dear Spies, Get rid of that giant or else! King Bombo!" reads the note delivered to them via pigeon. This was Fleischer Studios' first animated feature film and was green-lighted by Paramount executives after seeing Disney's success with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This is a rare full 16 field nitrate cel setup of the three spies who measure in a range of 3" to 4" tall. The hand-inked, hand-painted cels are over an original hand-painted pre-production/production Master background of Lilliputia. Portions of this background may have been used at the 15:58 mark when the call is given, "Don't look now gentleman, but it's war!" Backgrounds for this film were painted by Louis Jambor, Robert Little, Shane Miller, and Erich Schenk. Original production setups from this early Fleischer tour de force are extremely rare. The art is in a frame of 24" x 20" with a mat opening of 13" x 10". Condition is Very Good and frame is sold as-is.
