    Description

Gulliver's Travels Lilliput Bridge Production Background with Overlay Original Art (Max Fleischer, 1939). The Lilliputians have finally gotten giant Gulliver on a massive cart and are bringing him into town, where they pass under an old bridge. Here's that bridge and an assortment of homes and towers, in an amazing hand-painted 16 field background from the film. You can find it in online viewings at the 34:26 mark. The background has a hand-cut on board overlay, that is noted as "mount on glass" in the lower margin. The overlay is loose, but we've added a few small pieces of artist's white tape (removable) to secure it in place. This is a beautiful background from this classic, the second full-length animated feature film, released about two years after Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Background (or "scenic") artists are listed on IMDb as Robert Little (who signed off as R. Little in an "OK" stamp in the left margin), Louis Jambor, Shane Miller, and Erich Schenk. The overlay has a slightly wavy bottom edge, but this will look great framed. Overall condition is Good.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
