Goofy and Wilbur Publicity Drawing (Walt Disney, 1939). Goofy finally got his own starring solo role in this Dick Huemer-directed cartoon that had him fishing with his grasshopper pal Wilbur. It was released on 3/17/39. This is a rare 12 field 5-peghole studio publicity drawing of Goofy and Wilbur in their fishing boat. It is the exact image used both in the theatrical poster as well as a Mickey Mouse Magazine cover. Notes read "Ernest -- blue pencil, exact tracing from poster. All changes are in black." The "P" in the bottom right corner could indicate Hank Porter. Artwork is dry mounted to board with tape along the back border. Art is in mostly blue pencil and graphite, with some fade to the drawing. Goofy's image size is a nice 8". Important drawing in terms of Goofy's history. Minor handling and edge wear, dry mounting, and tape along back border. Good condition.
