Description
Goldilocks and the Three Bears 23" x 10.75" Pan-Sized Production Background with Papa Bear Presentation Cel (MGM, 1939). From the 1939 Hugh Harman-directed short Goldilocks and the Three Bears, we have in this lot a stupendous hand-painted pan-sized production background of the house of the three bears displayed with a presentation cel. This hilarious animated adaptation of the well-known fairy tale started as a Disney project and was later animated at MGM. Created by the remarkable artist John Meandor, this splendid production background of the table with the bowls can be seen starting at the 5:46 mark of the short, as Papa Bear realizes that someone has been eating his porridge. The background measures an outstanding image size of 23" x 10.75", rendered in gouache on background board, displaying a custom-made presentation cel of Papa Bear that measures 11" x 7.75". This lot is displayed on a 28" x 15.75" mat with a 23" x 10.75" opening, sold as-is. A 0.75" tear can be seen near the top right corner. Presenting light handling and edge wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
