Gerald McBoing Boing Production Cels and Model Sheet Group of 6 (UPA, 1950). The Dr. Seuss story Gerald McBoing Boing, is about a boy who can only make sounds when he talked and was a hit children's record album. Bill Scott and Phil Eastman took the story and turned it into a cartoon script that eventually won director Robert Cannon the Academy Award for Best Animated Film of 1950. This was the film that served as the spring-board for UPA Studios, and was ultimately voted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 1995. Here is a group of five original hand-inked, hand-painted 12-field production cels from that historic cartoon. All feature Gerald and measure in a range of 6" to 3". With the cels is an original 14" x 10" studio model sheet which showcases an array of poses and characters. Three of the cels exhibit varying degrees of paint loss and the model sheet shows handling and edge wear. Condition overall is Fair. From the Rev Chaney Archives.
