Description

Gene Hazelton Yogi Bear First Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-5-61 (McNaught Syndicate/Hanna-Barbera, 1961). After first coming to TV as a part of the Huckleberry Hound Show in 1958, Yogi Bear got his own show on 1/30/61. This is an unbelievably huge pen and ink Sunday Yogi Bear comic strip. It was the first strip published, dated 2/5/61, only days after the show debuted. This was done from the hand of Gene Hazelton (1919 - 2005), who also produced other H-B comic strips such as The Flintstones. In addition, the strip is also hand-signed by both Bill Hanna (1910 - 2001) and Joe Barbera (1911 - 2006) in the eighth panel, along with Gene Hazelton. The bottom of the strip has a © 1960 Hanna Barbera Productions notation. This is one big strip at 24.5" x 17.5", and it features Yogi, Boo Boo, The Park Ranger and an ending picnic basket gag and his famous line... "I'm smarter than the average bear". It is Plexiglas front framed to 38" x 31". In Fine condition.
