Ferdinand the Bull Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1938). This cel represents Disney animation at its zenith. Here is the ultimate image of the flower-loving Ferdinand in languid repose under the cork tree. The look of this beloved film was adapted from Robert Lawson's illustrations in the book by Munro Leaf. This is a magnificent original hand-inked, hand-painted nitrate cel that has been trimmed to the image and applied to a custom hand-painted Courvoisier background. The art is still in its original cream colored mat with "Ferdinand" delicately handwritten in the lower left. This Dick Rickard-directed short won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short in 1938. Ferdinand measures 5" x 4.5" and this exact image can be seen near the end of the film at the 7:11 mark. The art is framed under glass with a mat opening of 9" x 8.5" in an 18" x 19" frame. Condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
