Description

Farmer Al Falfa Cartoon Animation Drawings Group of 2 (Terrytoons, c. 1920s). Paul Terry's long-running character Farmer Al Falfa appears in this rare group of two drawings. The character dated back to some of the earliest cartoons Terry worked on, going back to his 1915 short Down on the Phoney Farm. The white-bearded farmer went on to appear in shorts produced by various studios, including Bray, Edison, Paramount, and Van Beuren, before Paul Terry established his own studio; the good farmer would continue on at Terrytoons until the mid 1950s. This is a very early pair of rough animation drawings, including one featuring Al Falfa with his usual co-stars - a cat and mouse. The second drawing is a street scene rough, featuring a house with an open door. These are 2-peghole drawings on paper measuring approximately 10.75" x 8.25". Al is seen twice on his page, with a standing pose measuring 3.125". Both pages have rusty staple marks along the bottom edge. Good to Very Good condition.
