DescriptionFantasia Unicorns and Fawns Concept/Model Sheet Art by Martin Provensen (Walt Disney, 1940). Children's Book Illustration Art lovers take note! This is a rare series of early concept drawings of the young Unicorns and the little Fauns from the Pastoral Symphony section of Fantasia. Seven large trimmed images that were used as paste-ups for Model Sheet preparation, drawn in pastels and watercolors. These are from the hand of famed illustrator, Martin Provensen (1916 - 1987), who was Character Designer on the Pastoral Symphony section. He and his wife Alice Rose were both well-known children's book illustrators. Mr. Provensen also designed the famous advertising icon Tony the Tiger. This is one of the most impressive early concept art pieces from Fantasia that we have seen, with outstanding large images of 7" to 11". This rare grouping of original model sheet artwork is matted with an opening of 31" x 20", and is framed with glass for an overall size of 34.5" x 29". Frame is sold as-is. Art condition is Very Good with minor handling wear. From the Robert Forbes Collection.
