Fantasia "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). Fantasia was Walt Disney's third animated feature film, released on 11/13/40. The film consists of eight animated segments set to classical music conducted by Leopold Stokowski. In this lot we have a wonderful production animation drawing of Mickey Mouse from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment. "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," perhaps the best-known Mickey Mouse short after his debut in the 1928 short, Steamboat Willie. The segment was adapted from Goethe's poem "Der Zauberlehrling." It is the story of wizard Yen Sid's ambitious, but lazy, assistant who attempts to work some of the magical feats of his master before he knows how to properly control them. Mickey plays the role of the apprentice. After the music ends, Mickey and conductor Leopold Stokowski, seen in silhouette, congratulate each other with a live-action/animation handshake. The image of Mickey measures an impressive 7" tall, rendered in graphite on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The piece is under Plexiglas in a frame of 20.5" x 20" with a mat opening of 12.5" x 12". Frame sold as-is. This is one of the best Sorcerer's Apprentice drawings we have seen with a great full-body, eyes wide-open image. Fred Moore and Bill Tytla were the supervising animators on this segment. The artwork is in Fine condition.
