Fantasia "The Rites of Spring" Concept/Color Key Painting Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1940). From memorable Fantasia segment "The Rites of Spring", here are two stunning original concept paintings by the hand of the great Maurice Noble (1911-2001). These eye-catching pieces are mounted to a 12 field sheet of brown paper with 5 pegholes on the left side, and the back of the sheet is signed by Maurice Noble, once for each painting. Before his long career with Warner Brothers and Chuck Jones, Maurice Noble got his start on early Disney features when he was just in his 20s. Some of Mr. Noble's most admired Disney work is that of concepts and backgrounds for "The Rite of Spring". These two spectacular paintings created for the segment are rendered expertly in gouache on 4" x 3.5" sheets of paper. They show minor handling and edge wear, and the condition overall is Very Good.
