DescriptionFantasia "The Nutcracker Suite" Concept Drawing Original Art (Walt Disney, 1940). Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker Suite" served to illustrate the changing of seasons in Disney's ambitious animated musical feature, Fantasia. High-kicking thistles, dressed like Cossacks, and orchids dressed like lovely peasant girls, join together for the festive "Russian Dance" sequence of this segment in the film. Offered in this lot is a wonderful concept drawing of the thistles. The 10" x 4.25" image of six dancers are delicately rendered in blue pencil on paper. The legendary Art Babbitt was credited with directing and animating much of this sequence and live dancers were brought in to help choregraph it. It's beautifully rendered drawing from a true animation masterpiece. The drawing is in a 10.5" x 8.5" mat with an opening of 10.5" x 7.5". Minor handling and condition is Very Good.
