Fantasia "Rite of Spring" Painted Production Background (Walt Disney, 1940). The birth of the earth and the end of the reptiles is seen in the "Rite of Spring" section of Fantasia, set to music of Igor Stravinsky. Backgrounds for this section were painted by Ed Starr, Brice Mack, and Edward Levitt. This is a rare hand-painted pan production background from this section; it's from where the dinosaurs are drinking water from the ponds, right before the appearance of the T. Rex. It can be seen around the 13:25 mark into the section. The artboard has had pegholes and a portion of the border trimmed; it does has a Walt Disney studio stamp on the reverse. Gouache on background board measuring 17.5" x 9.5". A beautiful piece of artwork all on its own! Very Good condition.
