    Description

Fantasia Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1940). A tired Mickey has just chopped up the magically-empowered broom, hoping to make it stop bringing buckets of water, in this original 12 field 5-peghole animation drawing. It's from what many consider Mickey's finest role, as apprentice to wizard Yen Sid in this Fantasia segment. This scene occurs at 6:14 into the sequence, as the splinters of the broom beginning coming back to life. The art is in graphite and red pencil, with an overall image area measuring 4" wide by 4.5" tall. The number D47 is written in the lower right corner. Fine condition with light handling wear and a few small ink blots high above the image.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
