Fantasia Madame Upanova Production Cel and Master Background (Walt Disney, 1940). The first dancer we see in the Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hour" section is the ostrich ballerina, Madame Upanova. This is a fantastic hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of this character, with an amazing 9" image size. The cel is trimmed to the image and mounted to a rare Master hand-painted Fantasia production background. The two make a wonderful setup. The background is painted in gouache on 12 field 5-peghole background board. The border reads SC 21.0. Back side of the background is stamped with a Production stamp, Approval stamp and "Property of Walt Disney Productions." It has written on back 6-12-40 INK. Pinholes in corner, otherwise Fine. Cel has been restored and trimmed to image and mounted to a new cel. One of the only setups of this character with a Master background we have seen! Fine restored condition.
