Fantasia Dewdrop Fairy Production Cel and Master Background Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1940). "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" is performed by the Dewdrop Fairies. It is said their movement was based on that of hummingbirds. The "Nutcracker Suite" section of Fantasia was directed by Samuel Armstrong; Les Clark did a great deal of the animation of these fairies. This is a rare hand-inked, hand-painted Courvoisier production cel of a Dewdrop Fairy. The cel is trimmed to image and placed on a trimmed hand-painted Fantasia Master production background. A hand-inked effects cel is placed over the setup. This is one of the rare times an actual hand-painted Disney production background was used in a Courvoisier setup. The Sugar Plum fairy with wand is 3". Background is trimmed to 9" by 9" with corners trimmed for original mat setup. Stunning delicate setup, with Courvoisier paperwork on the reverse. Very Good condition.
