    Description

Fantasia "Dance of the Hours" Hyacinth Hippo Animation Drawing Sequence of 24 (Walt Disney, 1940). Animating tutu-wearing Hyacinth Hippo in Fantasia was one of the plum assignments given to Preston Blair (1908 - 1995) during his seven-year stay at the Disney Studios. Hyacinth is the polar opposite of Mr. Blair's most famous dancing cartoon creation, Red Hot, but nonetheless charming in her plus-size way! Here's a remarkable sequence of 12 field 5-peghole rough animation drawings of Hyacinth as she gracefully pirouettes around. These are in two groups; the first set is numbered 242, 244, 246, 248, 250, and 378. These are graphite images measuring 4" down to 3" in the final drawing. The second batch has numbering that all begin with X: 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 28, 32, 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, and 47. These are slightly smaller images in graphite, ranging from 2.5" to 3". Condition is Good to Very Good, with some handling and edge wear, and minor paper toning.
