DescriptionFantasia "Ave Maria" Production Cel and Courvoisier Background Animation Art (Walt Disney, 1940). The solemn scene that ends Fantasia has a line of hooded monks carrying candles as they walk single-file through the woods. It's an emotional ending to the color spectacle that was Disney's most ambitious animated film, sure to send chills down the spine of those in the darkened theater audience. This handsome piece features a cel with the line of monks (which appear to have been carefully trimmed and glued down), set against a specially prepared original art background. The combined image area measures approximately 12" x 8.5", and has fairly recently been professionally matted and Plexiglas framed, for an overall 19.25" x 15.5". The colors have muted somewhat and the background has a few old glue stains, but still displays well. Very Good condition. From the Estate of John McLaughlin.
