Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Princess Aurora Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1959). "Touch the spindle... touch it I say!" says Maleficent as the Princess, in a trance, goes up the stairs and touches the spindle to fall asleep. The three Fairies then make the entire castle population sleep and go off to find Prince Phillip to defeat Maleficent and save Princess Aurora/Briar Rose. This is a staggering original concept/Color Key painting of Princess Aurora in her deep sleep after pricking her finger. She is up the stairs, high in her castle room. This is where Phillip will rush in to save her with his kiss in the film's finale. Magnificent gouache on illustration board painting measuring 15" x 13" from the hand of Disney Legend Inductee, Mr. Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000). This is a Key Scene in the movie, one that would be used on countless movie posters, books, record album covers, etc. Tack holes in all four corners, with light handling wear. In Very Good condition.
