    Description

Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty King Stephan and King Hubert Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1959). It is written that Eyvind Earle found inspiration for the art direction and painting style in this film from Renaissance artists, utilizing the works of Dürer, Bruegel, Van Eyck, and Botticelli, as well as some references from Persian Art and Japanese Prints. This magnificent original background Color Key/Concept Art painting showcases many of these influences. This is an outstanding gouache painting on board measuring 15" x 6", featuring King Stephan and King Hubert on the top of the castle. The detail on the castle and the castle flags is amazing. Signed by the artist Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000) along the bottom right. Matted and framed with Plexiglas. Fine condition.
