Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Forest and Castle Background Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1959). Eyvind Earle was named a Disney Legend in 2015. He started with Walt Disney Studios in 1951 but is best remembered for his Art Direction work on the 1959 animated feature film Sleeping Beauty. It was his vision that gave this film its color, styling, and backgrounds. This is a stunning concept/background Color Key of the forest with the castle off in the distance. This painting is close to what Prince Phillip and Briar Rose look out to at the end of the "Once Upon a Dream" song sequence. This stunning gouache painting is on board measuring 23.5" x 8.5". Any painting of this quality with a Disney Castle in it is something special. The castle is a staggering 6" x 5", and the art is signed by Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000) in the bottom right corner. It's one of the largest Color Key/concept paintings we have seen, as well as one of the finest Castles we have ever seen from Mr. Earle's hand. Pinholes in corners, minor handling wear. Very Good condition.
