Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Color Key Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1959). A stunning Eyvind Earle concept piece from Sleeping Beauty. Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000) was an artist and illustrator, noted for his contributions to background paintings, and concepts for Disney animated films in the 1950s. Earle was also an accomplished fine art painter with his work being presented at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Rahr West Art Museum, Phoenix Art Museum, and Arizona State University Art Museum. All have purchased Earle's works for their permanent collections. The amazing Sleeping Beauty piece in this lot shows Princess Aurora through the castle tower window as she lies in deep sleep. Meanwhile Phillip, armed with a magic sword and shield, battles Maleficent when she turns herself into a gigantic fire-breathing dragon. Notice the thorns and branches growing on the castle wall. An outstanding piece by Eyvind Earle, enclosed in a glass-fronted frame of 14.75" x 12.5" with a fabric covered matboard. The matboard aperture measures 9.25" x 7". Frame sold as-is. Condition is Fine.
