Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Color Key/Background Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1959). Disney Legend Inductee Eyvind Earle (1916 - 2000) was the Color Stylist/Art Director for this classic Disney film. Featured on page 515 in the book The Walt Disney Archives: The Animated Movies 1921 - 1968, published by Taschen is a series of six Eyvind Earle paintings created to show "How to paint stylized background foliage." The instructional paintings appear to have been put to full use in this magnificent Eyvind Earle Color Key/background concept painting. It's painted in gouache on board measuring 15" x 6". A wide array of colors and styles make up the forest outside the cottage and surrounding mountains. This visually stunning concept painting is hand-signed by the artist on the bottom right. It's one of the more detailed concept studies by Mr. Earle for this film that we have seen. In a frame of 22" x 13" the painting has pinholes in corners; otherwise, Condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
