Eyvind Earle Sleeping Beauty Briar Rose Color Key/Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1959). The composition of this stunning Eyvind Earle original is simply amazing! Easily one of our favorites. This is a Color Key/concept painting for Sleeping Beauty. In visual arts, Color Keys are created to understand how light works from pre-production to post. For example; how the color changes from day to night, above water or under water, in full light or a shadow. Concept art is a form of illustration used to convey an idea for use in films and animation, before it is put into the final product. Earle's choice of color is a perfect example of his brilliance as color stylist for Sleeping Beauty. The orange sky with yellow sun juxtaposed with the stylized trees of different shades of blue and green is remarkable and really lends itself to the style of the film. Briar Rose in silhouette and the spacing between the trees is classic Earle! The piece measures 12" x 6". A must-have for collectors. Tack holes in the corners from production use.
