Eyvind Earle Lady and the Tramp Original Concept/Color Key Background (Walt Disney, 1955). "Oh dear, I should have been home long ago!" says Lady to Tramp when they wake up after their Bella Notte evening dinner, then take their stroll through the park on a moonlit evening. This is an outstanding concept/Color Key painting of Lady and Tramp walking back to Lady's home. Eyvind Earle did the preliminary work on the entire Bella Notte scene. He worked up concept paintings for their dinner, the park and their return home. He did over 50 pieces for this scene and also painted production backgrounds for this film. Even though Tramp lived on the other side of the tracks, this painting lavishly illustrates the fine home Lady came from. The Eyvind Earle landscaping touches are everywhere in this concept piece, where Lady and Tramp come home to her house. Eyvind Earle became a Disney Legend Inductee in 2015. In 2017, the Walt Disney Family Museum put on an eight month art retrospective of his work titled "Awakening Beauty - The Art of Eyvind Earle." This concept painting in gouache on illustration board is in a frame of 27" x 15" under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 20" x 9". Frame sold as-is. Mr. Earle (1916 - 2000) has hand-signed the painting in bottom right corner. The subtle images of Lady and Tramp arriving back at Lady's home is priceless. This is one of Mr. Earle's larger Color Key/concept paintings for this scene. Artwork has minor handling and edge wear. Overall Very Good condition. From the Forbes Collection.
