Description

Extremely rare Charlotte Clark "Mickey Mouse" doll. (Charlotte Clark/Walt Disney Studios ca. 1930) Incredibly rare Charlotte Clark "Mickey Mouse" doll. Clark, a Los Angeles seamstress, designed the doll in 1930, and got permission from the studio to manufacture it. Demand quickly exceeded her ability to produce the dolls, so Disney rented her a space near the Hyperion studio where she and six assistants could manufacture 300 to 400 dolls per week. This 20.5 in. velveteen-covered stuffed doll has felt ears, oilcloth eyes, separate string whiskers, and 4 mother-of-pearl pants buttons. In good condition with missing tail and considerable wear.
