    Description

    Dumbo Timothy Mouse Production Cel Courvoisier Setup (Walt Disney, 1941). Timothy the Circus Mouse reunites little Dumbo with his mother in this scene at the 40:39 mark of Disney's fifth animated feature film. Dumbo was released on October 23, 1941; made to recoup the financial losses of both Pinocchio and Fantasia. The style and animation process was streamlined in the pursuit of simplicity and economy. At 64 minutes, it is one of Disney's shortest animated features and the most successful of the 1940's. In this lot is an original hand-inked hand-painted production cel of Timothy in full-figure standing just over 5" tall. It's a particularly large image of this otherwise diminutive character in its original Courvoisier Galleries setup. The meticulously trimmed and laminated cel is presented over a custom painted background that bears a WDP stamp in the lower left corner. It's a magnificent image of the true hero from a story so enduring that a live-action/CGI remake was produced 8 decades later in 2019. The art is in an 11.5" x 14.5" glass front frame with a 5" x 6.5" mat opening and comes with its original Courvoisier Certificate of Authenticity which is under the backing board. A photocopy of the certificate is taped to the back of the frame. This nearly 80-year-old cel shows a few hairline cracks and some minor paint separation. Condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
