Dumbo Mother Tiger and Cubs Production Cel Setup with Key Master Background (Walt Disney, 1941). "Through the snow and sleet and hail; through the blizzard, through the gale... in the wind and through rain, over mountain, over plains; through blinding lightening flash, and the mighty thunder crash; ever faithful, ever true, nothing stops him -- he'll get through! Look out for Mr. Stork!" The opening scene of Dumbo showcases the storks bringing babies to the circus animals in Florida, at the winter circus headquarters. This is an original hand-inked, hand-painted production cel of the Mother Tiger with her newly delivered tiger cubs. The cels are laminated together, and placed on its hand-painted 16 field Key Master production background. Backgrounds in this film were painted by Claude Coats, Al Dempster, John Hench, Gerald Nevius, Ray Lockrem, and Joe Stahley. This background has a Disney stamp on the back, and is approved "SA" (believed to be Samuel Armstrong). Curling to cel and some paint loss in the figures. Key Masters from this film of any kind are considered rare! Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
