Duckster Award Statuette (Walt Disney, 1952). Cross Donald Duck with the Academy Award Oscar, and you get "The Duckster." This is one of the most sought after Walt Disney Studio in-house awards by collectors. It was given by the Walt Disney Company for a variety of services to the company as well as to the community. This is one of the earliest Ducksters we have seen come to market, and is inscribed "Mike Havas - Best Personal Wishes Walt Disney". Mike Havas was the head of RKO Latin-America in the 1930s through the 1950s. It is quite possible he met with Walt Disney during his South America "Good Neighbor Tour". This tour resulted in the release of two animated films -- Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros. This Duckster is on the early Bakelite base, and measures approximately 9". Extremely rare and highly collectible. Fine condition.
