Description
Duck Pimples Production Background (Walt Disney, 1945). Donald Duck experiences a series of surreal dream sequences after listening to scary stories on the radio and reading crime novels in the Jack Kinney-directed theatrical short Duck Pimples. Often compared to the zany worlds of Tex Avery, Duck Pimples gives nods to Avery's Who Killed Who? with its use of organ music and Billy Bletcher as the voice of the detective in the film. The atypical backgrounds are by the hand of Nino Carbe, rendered stunningly in gouache on 12 field 5-peghole background board. This piece can be seen at the 7:13 mark of the film. The background bears the production numbers 2316 and Sc. 59 in the lower right corner, and the back of the board bears official Walt Disney Productions stamps. Minor handling and edge wear with pinholes near the top edge, and a protective sheet of acetate overlays the piece. Exceptionally rare, this piece is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
