    Description

Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century Daffy Duck and Marvin the Martian Color Model Cel on Painted Background (Warner Brothers, c. 1990s). "I claim this plant in the name of Mars... isn't that lovely?" says Marvin the Martian to (Daffy) Duck Dodgers, as they both attempt to lay claim to the planet. This scene comes in around the 4:02 minute mark into the short. The original short was directed by Chuck Jones and written by Mike Maltese was originally released on 7/25/53. This is a rare hand-painted studio Color Model cel of Marvin the Martian and Duck Dodgers placed on a hand-painted background. It was a prototype for a potential limited edition art piece for the Warner Brothers Studios Stores. Marvin and Daffy stand approximately 5" and 6" tall. The background measures 10.5" x 16". This piece is from the collection of a longtime Warner Brothers Studio animation artist. There is some tape along the borders; otherwise, condition is Fine.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
