Dragon Ball Z Trunks Production Cel Setup and Animation Drawing Group of 3 (Toei Animation, c. 1989-96). A must-have hand-painted original production cel setup from Dragon Ball Z, this spectacular image features the powerful son of the Saiyan Vegeta, Trunks, charging a massive energy blast to stop his father Vegeta from allowing Cell to reach his perfect form! A great showcase of dazzling effects and a dynamic, high-action pose, this incredible piece appears in Episode 159 titled "The Last Defense" (timestamp 12:15) and is animated by Key animation supervisor Naoki Miyahara! In addition, included in this lot are two matching original animation douga drawings rendered in graphite and color pencil on 10.5" x 10" animation paper. I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
