Drag-a-long Droopy Droopy Dog Production Cel and Master Background Setup (MGM Studios, 1954). "We know this story to be true. It was told to us by a...TEXAN" is how this classic Tex Avery (1908 - 1980) short begins. In it, Droopy the sheep rancher pits his wits against a Wolf cattle rancher. This is an original hand-inked, hand-painted production cel setup of both characters. The Wolf is from the 4:08 mark when he is outside the saloon and Droopy on the burro is from the 7:11 mark, just after the Sheep vs Cattle charge. The cels are on a trimmed production background marked Prod. 2 in the top right corner. This is an MGM studio gift setup that was dedicated "To Ed Bagley: Happy Days, says Droopy". Also written on the border is "An original from the Metro Goldwyn Mayer Cartoon 'Drag-A-Long Droopy' starring Droopy." This is extremely rare artwork from this stand-out MGM director. Cels and background are trimmed to 10" x 12" and there is some paint cracking, especially on the burro. Minor restoration is required; otherwise, condition is Good.
