Description

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas Limited Edition Cel Setup 159/200 with Animation Drawings (MGM, 1966-93). An original hand-painted limited edition cel of the finale of the film, during which the Grinch and Max return to Whoville to return the Christmas presents and decorations that they've stolen. Titled "Welcome Christmas", this 16 field cel features the Grinch, Max, and their magnificent sled, as well as Cindy Lou Who and various Whoville residents! The cel is #159 from a limited edition of only 200 created from an original Chuck Jones drawing, and is on a print background for presentation purposes. It is signed by Jones as well as by art director Maurice Noble (1911-2001). As a bonus, a giclee of the line drawing and the original layout drawing by Noble are matted and framed with the cel for a magnificent Grinch setup measuring 25" x 50" overall. In Fine condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
