Description

Donald Duck Military-Use Illustration Original Art (Walt Disney, 1942). It looks like Donald Duck has his hands full battling a swarm of bees in boxing gloves. This is an original gouache illustration on 10" x 12" board believed to be preliminary artwork for a counter standee. It reads "2nd Training Group" possibly indicating the 2nd Air Force Group which was responsible for conducting basic military training for Air Force enlisted men and non-flying officers in World War II. The group was activated on 10/19/40 and based on the West Coast. It's a great WWII image of Donald Duck measuring approximately 6" tall and 2nd Training Group is handwritten on the back of the board. We do know that the art was done at the 29 Palms Air Training Base. This is truly a piece of Disney and U.S. military history. It shows minor handling and edge wear. Condition is Very Good.
