Doctor Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas Concept Art (MGM, 1966). "The three words that best describe you are as follows, and I quote... STINK... STANK... STUNK!" A one-of-a-kind concept design drawing of the Grinch stealing the leaves off the poinsettia plant. This is from the hand of longtime Chuck Jones Art Director and Stylist, Mr. Maurice Noble (1911 - 2001). Mr. Noble held the title of Production Designer for this project. His career is featured in Ted Polson's well-received book, The Noble Approach -- Maurice Noble and the Zen of Animation Design, published by Chronicle in 2013. This great layout drawing showcases his use of color in the pot and plant, and includes the Grinch in action. The art is in graphite with blue and red pencil highlights, with watercolor added to the pot and plant. The plant and rough sketch of the plant have an approximate image area of 9.5" x 7". Matted with an opening of 9" x 12" and framed with Plexiglas; a Linda Jones COA is included on the back of the frame. Early concept art of this type, for the Grinch, is considered extremely rare. This beautiful piece is in Fine condition. From the Chuck Jones Archives.
