Disney In-Studio Gag Paintings and Drawings by Jesse Marsh Group of 14 (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). Jesse Marsh (1907 - 1966), the great Tarzan comic book artist, first worked in the Disney Studio Story Department, beginning in 1939. He worked at Walt Disney Studios until 1947. This lot is an amazing insight into the gag artwork that went on at the Walt Disney studios with so many talented artists. The woman who seemed to have all Mr. Marsh's affections was studio employee Nora Cochran. Two are in gouache, with the balance in graphite and Conte crayon. All are on 16 field 5-peghole animation paper. One piece has a "Don Quixote"-type theme; this was one of the last projects Jesse Marsh worked on at the studio before leaving for Western Publishing. All have minor handling wear, edge wear and tear, folds, etc. Great insight in to the studio story department! These come from the personal archives of Jesse Marsh. Fair overall condition.
