Description
Dinky Duck Cel Key Master Setup with Animation Drawing (Terrytoons, c. 1950s). Little Dinky Duck was forever looking for a home to adopt him, but always turned away until he saves the day, at the end of the cartoon. A number of Dinky shorts involved a waterfall climax. Here is just such a situation, as Dinky stops a rooster from going over the falls. This is believed to have been created for one of Paul Terry's "3D Terryscope" cartoons, which were designed to be shown in special small booths that were set up in grocery stores and shopping centers. The hand-inked, hand-painted cel setup includes the original hand-painted background, including a rock overlay that is stamped "Copyright Terrytoons." Matted with the setup is an original animation drawing from the scene; it looks to be a second or two after the cel setup. Art is in graphite and blue pencil. The mat openings are 9.5" x 8.75" and 8.5" x 8.75". This nicely-framed display includes a Plexiglas front, and an overall frame size of 29.5" x 18". Some paint cracks in the rooster and small separations in Dinky are present, and the drawing shows mild paper toning and a couple of small spot stains. Good condition. From The Paul Terry Terrytoons Archive.
