Davy Crockett Screen-Used Canteen Prop (Walt Disney, 1954). This is an actual on-screen prop of Davy Crockett's canteen, as seen in this Disneyland TV five-episode serial which premiered on 12/14/54. This was the role that made Fess Parker an overnight sensation. The first three episodes of the serial were turned into the feature length movie Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier, released in 1955. The last two episodes were also turned into a feature film release, Davy Crockett and the River Pirates in 1956. This is an actual on-screen prop of Davy Crockett's canteen used in the original 1954 show. This canteen also can be seen in the Wonderful World of Color episode, "Disneyland Around the Seasons," when Walt Disney pours water from this actual canteen into the Small World Lagoon. This was in Season 13, Episode 14, when Walt gives a tour of Disneyland's newest areas, New Orleans Square, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and Small World. You can see Walt hold this and pour from it around the 9:27 mark. It is marked on bottom W.D.P. Prop Dept. and measures approximately 8" x 3", with its original leather strap. Props from this show are few and far between. Good condition. From the Joe Hale Collection.
