Davy Crockett Giant Painting Book Title Page and Interior Page Illustrations Group of 24 (Walt Disney/Dean & Son, c. 1955). The enormous popularity of Disney's 1954-55 three-part television serial starring Fess Parker as Davy Crockett wasn't just limited to US audiences; there were plenty of fans "across the pond" as well! This group of pages is from a UK coloring book based on the show, with spot-on illustrations of Parker as the frontier hero. Here is the original artwork for the book's title page with a hand-painted color guide (as an onionskin paper overlay), plus 22 full-page interior illustrations. The art is in ink over graphite with whiteout on lightweight boards measuring approximately 10" to 11.5" by 15" to 16". Most pages have a typeset caption pasted on the bottom edge of the art. Overall art condition is Good, with handling and edge wear, and mild paper toning.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
