    Description

WWII Marine Dive Bomber Squadron VMS B333 "Buzzard" Insignia Design (Walt Disney, 1940s). A rare gouache painting of WWII Disney insignia artwork done for Squadron VMS B333. This Marine Dive Bomber Squadron was stationed on Midway Island in July of 1944 and did anti-submarine patrols. It's a wonderful painting of a buzzard dropping a bomb (egg) on an Asian-style building. A Walt Disney studio signature is in the bottom right corner, and has faded. The back of the illustration reads "Sent to National Geographic in June for 1944 Issue." A stamp is also on the back stating "No Objection To Publication" by the Navy Department, dated June 12th 1944. There is slight fading from former framing and minor handling wear. Extremely rare insignia art from Hank Porter's group. Fine condition.
