Description

Wilderness Valley/Gold Springs - Proposed Theme Park - Original Concept/Pitch Art by Dan Goozee for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, c. 1990s). This original concept/pitch artwork was created by Dan Goozee for Landmark Entertainment Group's proposed Wilderness Valley theme park, an early-to-mid-1990s blue-sky package envisioning a western-mining-town family park or themed resort district. Rendered in gouache on 38" x 20" illustration board and signed by Goozee, the painting depicts a richly detailed late-19th-century frontier setting, complete with a bustling main street, railroad depot, show venue/saloon, and dramatic water and rockwork set pieces. The Wilderness Valley logo is trimmed to image and mounted on the original artwork. The concept reflects Landmark's hallmark design style: cinematic placemaking combined with immersive experiences. Attractions proposed for the park included a stunt or music spectacular, interactive gold-panning and "prospector's camp" activities, and signature rides such as a mine-train coaster and a log-flume/rapids adventure threading through canyon and sluice landscapes. Dan Goozee (1943-2024), renowned for his cinematic poster art (Superman: The Movie, Moonraker), was also a prolific themed entertainment illustrator for Disney and Landmark. His work blended architectural precision with dramatic storytelling, making this rare original an outstanding artifact of Landmark's unbuilt vision. In Very Good condition with light edge wear, mild corner damage, residue in the top corners, and pinholes.
