Walt Peregoy Chanticleer Character Design Art Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1960). Chanticleer was one of those Disney Studio projects that went through years of development, but never saw completion. It was first attempted in the 1940s, based on an old French play by Edmond Rostand. The onset of World War II halted production, but the idea was revived in 1960. Marc Davis and Ken Anderson both did a number of concept sketches for the project, as did Walt Peregoy (1925 - 2015). Here's a set of four highly stylized illustrations of barnyard hens done for this lost film. Art is in ink and watercolor on paper measuring 11.5" x 17", 11.5" x 15", 10" x 17", and 10.25" x 17". Each piece is mounted to a separate backing board; three measuring 14.5" x 23", and one 13.5" x 20.25". Image sizes are 10" to 13". Each board has a protective clear sheet of acetate. Extremely cool art from a Disney Legend! Overall condition is Very Good. From the Walt Peregoy Archives.
