Description

Walt Disney Pictures Movie Intro Cinderella's Castle Concept Drawings and Disney Family Crest Drawing Original Art Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 2005). Cinderella Castle at Disneyland has been considered a Disney iconic image and has been used in advertising since the 1950s. The Castle appears at the beginning of Disney feature films in images that change throughout the years; here are three concept sketches of that famous landmark from the hand of Mike Gabriel, an animator and film director best known as co-director on The Rescuers Down Under and Pocahontas. He also worked on The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective, and Oliver & Company. The drawings are in fine-line black marker and graphite filling the space on sheets of 17" x 12" animation paper. Also included is a Disney Family crest design, drawn in black and color markers on a piece of 12 field animation paper. The crest includes a Latin phrase, "Vincit qui Patitur" which translates to "He conquers, who endures" or "He who endures will succeed." The crest image measures approximately 4" x 5.5" within a loosely drawn outline border of 8.75" x 6.5". The art is in Very Good overall condition with minor handling wear and a small dot of moisture damage to the crest.
From the Disney Director Mike Gabriel Collection.
