Victor Haboush Concept Paintings (John Sutherland, c. 1950s). Animation art doesn't get much cooler than this. This is hand-painted concept art by Victor Haboush (1924 - 2009) for an unproduced John Sutherland Studios industrial film. In the 1950s, Mr. Haboush was one of the trailblazing young modernists in animation who eschewed the cute "Disney Style" for a cool, modern aesthetic. It was artists like him that set the tone for an entire era and these paintings exemplify that cool, jazzy tone. In this lot are four gouache paintings measuring 6" x 8.5" and one that measures 6" x 15" that are mounted to a 21" x 19" board. Three of the smaller paintings are signed by the artist. This is the ultimate in "hep" animation artwork. Condition is Very Good. From the Vic Haboush Archives.
