Description

Tummy Trouble Opening Title Card Concept Art Pair (Walt Disney/Amblin, 1989). Everything needs a concept in film, including opening and closing credits. Story artist Thom Enriquez (Hercules, The Little Mermaid, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: The Animated Series) created two different colorful variations of the opening credits of Tummy Trouble, both hand-drawn on paper with the text hand-written on cel overlays. The animated short was one of the in-universe Maroon Cartoons Roger and Baby Herman acted in and this was the first of the three shorts to be created, releasing on 6/23/1989 and playing before Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. The concepts center around Baby Herman and the rattle that he swallows to instigate the events of the animation. They have both been signed by the artist in the lower right and were rendered in mixed media and the first blue concept was the one that was used in the final short. It appears at about 0:45 with an altered text style and a print of the final image has been included with the lot as reference. Measuring about 8.5'' x 5.5'' for both the taped overlays and paper, the lot is in Very Good condition with pinholes, faint edge and handling wear, and light smudging on the blue concept.
From the Noted Disney Concept and Story Artist Thom Enriquez Collection.
