Top Cat Character Design Drawing by Dick Bickenbach (Hanna-Barbera, 1961). Top Cat premiered on 9/27/61 as a Prime Time series on ABC-TV. Top Cat ("T.C.") had a crew of cats that included Benny the Ball, Choo-Choo, Brain, Fancy-Fancy, and Spook. It was said this show was inspired by the live-action Phil Silvers Show which featured the antics of Sergeant Bilko and his platoon. This is a pure piece of Hanna-Barbera history: an original Dick Bickenbach (1907 - 1994) character design drawing of T.C. and his crew. They are in army outfits, ala Bilko and his platoon. Graphite with blue pencil on 3-peghole 12 field animation paper, written "Basic Pose" "Army Bick." You can see the Phil Silvers Show influence in this early character development drawing. Nice full-size images, with sizes of 3" - 5". Minor handling. Very Good condition.
