Tim Burton The Black Cauldron Gurgi Concept Sketch (Walt Disney, 1985). The Black Cauldron marked a new beginning for Walt Disney Studios feature animation. Many new artists were brought aboard as the longtime legends began to retire. Among the fresh talent was this just-out-of-Cal Arts artist named Tim Burton. His first uncredited job at Walt Disney was to do concept and character design for this movie. This is a rare Tim Burton original of Gurgi, in his early version with the "exploding" hair. Pen and ink/gouache on paper measuring 11" x 8". This is a large Burton concept sketch, mounted to black backing board measuring 12.5" x 9.5". This comes from the personal collection of this film's producer, Mr. Joe Hale. Extremely rare. Minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
