Description

The Worm Turns RARE Background Layout with Studio Note Sheet (Walt Disney, 1937). "I knew I'd get ya!" This background layout is the scene where the horrible dog catcher Pete almost nabs a terrified Pluto who only wanted to catch the rascal of a cat that was causing him trouble. Theatrically released on 1/2/1937, the short film sees a scientific Mickey Mouse brewing away to concoct the perfect formula to create the "Courage Builder" but events quickly get out of hand when Mickey keeps spraying everyone with the concoction, only for Pluto to get caught by Pete. Disney Legend Wolfgang Reitherman (1909 - 1985) was an animator on this film and was also responsible for directing other classic Disney works such as The Jungle Book (1967), The Sword and the Stone (1963), and Robin Hood (1973). The Worm Turns is unique in that the main reason behind it being made was to experiment the laboratory scene effects in preparations for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). This background was done in graphite and red pencil plus the image can be seen at 6:42 - 6:47 as a panning shot of Pluto's face. The overall condition is Fair with handling wear, edge wear, folds and creases, a slight tear on left edge, and a staple hole in top left corner.
