The Wonderful World of Oz Theme Park Munchkinland Concept Painting (Landmark Entertainment, c. 1990s). A Kansas-based Wizard of Oz Theme Park had been discussed since the 1980s. Landmark Entertainment became involved with it, and made a very serious effort to get this park made. Investors had pitched local officials that they expected this park to draw 2.8 - 3.5 million visitors annually. In an interview with Landmark Entertainment, it was disclosed that the entire park concept and artwork was shown to Harrison Price, the legendary feasibility maven who helped get Disneyland originally financed. He then went on to form ERA, working on hundreds of projects thereafter. He is considered the Dean of the Theme Park Industry. His response after looking this project over was "I have seen everything come down the pike since Disneyland, and without a doubt, this is the best project I have seen since Disneyland. This is a winner." Here is the original oversized Landmark Entertainment pitch art for the park section called "Munchkinland." The art is matted with an opening of 47" x 33" and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 55" x 41". If you love The Wizard of Oz, this is a lot for you. If you collect Theme Park development artwork this is also a lot for you. A stunning, simply beautiful painting for this historic park that never got made. Frame is sold as-is, artwork has minor handling and edge wear. Very Good condition. This lot will have to ship from Dallas to the winning bidder.
